Ministry

From the very definition of ministry, that is "to minister", we are all made aware that it has to do with service and serving. When Christians are baptized, they are reminded that they have been baptized into the death of Christ, which means they are called to die to their own will in favor of God and neighbor. It seems quite logical all Chiristians, i.e. Catholics, are called to minister and serve one another in various ways. Parents minister to their children as well as to each other. When parents are no longer able to take care of themselves, their children are called to minister and serve them. In line with the teachings of Christ, we are called to serve all our neighbors. Anyone who has served another, or who is serving at the present time, knows that service and ministry demand sacrifice. It is as the Gospel tells us, a dying to what I want, in favor of doing what someone else wants or needs. Each Christian must make some decisions in life, over and above immediate family, as to how they might serve.
